African/Caribbean International Festival of Life

This week kicks off the 26th Annual African/Caribbean International Festival of Life. In 2018 the festival is dedicated to “TheReggae50”, 50 years of Reggae music from 1968/ 69 to 2018 while also saluting Chicago’s founding father, Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable Bicentennial.

The International Festival of Life showcases a very diverse culture and music from many nations; primarily from the Caribbean, Africa, Latin America and the United States. People now call it the “Carnival of Nations”, as it aims at bringing communities together through music and culture.
